Dr. Elshorbagy is a professor of water resources engineering and hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon. He is the President (2009-2010) and a founding member of Saskatoon Muslim Foundation. Amin served also in the past as Secretary and Treasurer of Saskatoon Misbah School (full time Islamic school) and as President of the Muslim Students’ Association at the University of Manitoba.
